A Sioux Falls man is getting a fresh start after experiencing homelessness for nearly 20 years.

We as a team have been so moved by George Van Vooren’s story — a man we met in our very early days of doing street outreach. George survived the brutal winters on the streets of Sioux Falls and lost both legs to frostbite.

But he never gave up.

Today, George is able to tell his story — and in just a few weeks, he’ll be moving into his very own apartment.

At 60 years old, he’s relearning how to walk, how to live — and showing us all what true strength looks like.

George, your determination and heart are nothing short of inspiring.
